About The Breakwall

Did you know??

The Breakwall was built using locally sourced materials!

This amazing and beautiful building was build by Tim Swift, a former resident of Grand Marais. His construction company cleared and moved a home in School Forest. The timber left over was collected, brought back to his mill to cure then cut, and used to complete the inside of the building.

On the outside of the building you will notice numerous large rocks and stone. Tim used the rubble, left over from the construction of the breakwall in the bay, to enhance the look of the outside. The Breakwall is a solid and cozy space with an incredible view. The materials used reflect the combination of land and lake that makes our town so special. We are excited to be able to share it with you.
